How to format your Nokia N73 phone
Recently I’ve updated my Nokia N73 firmware from 3.0638.0.0.1 to an updated version 4.0812.4.0.1. The guides and information was emailed to me by Nokia Helpdesk.
Why do it? Well my N73 is not responding very well, sometimes it hangs for no reason. Especially when using the camera and internet browser application.
Before you proceed, please make sure you have adhere to the pre-requisite below
- Install Nokia PC Suite in your laptop / desktop
- Connect your N73 phone to your laptop / desktop via the Nokia USB cable
- Make a full backup of your N73 phone via Nokia PC Suite. Please be advised that the user data (contacts, photos, messages and files) and add-on applications such as Java games or Symbian applications will be deleted during the software update.
- Ensure that your N73 phone battery is fully charged
Once you have meet all the pre-requisite then follow this additional steps to starts formatting and upgrading your Nokia N73 firmware.
- Download the Nokia Software Updater application from http://www.nokia.com.my/A4759037 the choose Download section
- Install it on your laptop / desktop. Please ensure your internet connection is still active during the installation process
- Once the installation is completed, the upgrade process will start immediately and try to detect your N73 phone.
- Follow the instructions given. Below are some screens shoots for you to get some confident level on the firmware upgrade process
Restoration-process
The restoration process will restore everything that you’ve backup including games, and other symbian OS applications. Those applications will no longer work after the restoration, you will be required to uninstall and re-install it.
Your phone will be rebooted by itself once the restoration is done. Please initiate another reboot by yourself to make sure everything is smoothly running.
